Ruth Roman was born on June 22nd, 1939, in Lynn Massachusetts. Ruth Roman is the eldest child of Lithuanian Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold & Abraham Roman. As a child, Ruth Roman's carnival-barker father passed away, which caused her mother, Mary Pauline (Gold) to work as a waitress or cleaner in order for them to survive. Ruth was raised in the poorest neighborhood in Boston Massachusetts in which she went to high school. However, she left school in the span of two years in order to take on a acting career. The path she chose was filled with challenges. After obtaining a position at New York as a model for a detective magazine she was unable to find work for stage. When she was employed as a hat-check girl in a nightclub, she quit her job and moved back to Boston. She was in Boston where she worked during the evening as an actor for the New England Repertory Company and the rest of the time, was an usherette. The study of drama helped her to receive a degree in the Bishop-Lee Theatre School.
